Where do we fly to Marrakech from?

As you know, our trip to Morocco begins in Marrakech, the starting point of our tour through the African country. However, at Happy Erasmus, we always fly to Marrakech from Santander Airport, as it typically offers very low prices for flights to Morocco and is relatively close to Bilbao.

What documents do I need to travel to Morocco?

To travel to Morocco, you will need a valid passport with at least three months of validity in most cases. In some instances, such as for citizens from Colombia, Bolivia, or Uruguay, you may also need a visa to enter the country. For Spanish and European citizens, having a passport is absolutely necessary. We reiterate: without a valid passport, entry into Morocco is not guaranteed. There has been much discussion about whether an EU ID or Spanish DNI is sufficient for travel to Morocco. The fact is, without a passport, we cannot guarantee entry into Morocco.

What is the official currency of Morocco?

The official currency of Morocco is the dirham. Unlike other currencies, the dirham can only be bought and sold in Morocco, so you cannot obtain it before arriving in Marrakech. Once there, we will direct you to the best place for exchanging money. To give you an idea, in recent trips, 1 Euro was equivalent to 10.70 dirhams. In Morocco, it is possible to eat and shop for very little money. For example, food from small street vendors can cost around 2€ at the current exchange rate, though dining from a menu will be slightly more expensive. Remember to exchange your dirhams before returning to Spain, as you will not find a place to convert them back to euros once you are back in Spain.
